A few minutes in the garage before the bitter cold hits could help prevent a more time-consuming and unpleasant experience during the winter. Cold weather will only make existing problems worse, according to the experts at the nonprofit National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). It's a good idea to read the owner's manual and follow the manufacturer's recommended service schedules.

Here are a few more winter car tips that are easy and simple to do:

* Tires - Worn tires can be extremely dangerous in rain, snow and on ice. Examine tires for remaining tread life and uneven wearing. Be sure to check the sidewalls for cuts and nicks as well.

Herb Chambers Lexus Goes Hollywood!
A True Movie Experience

You may have heard that Massachusetts is rapidly becoming the home of Hollywood East…lately there’s hardly a time that movie crews aren’t scouting the towns and cities of our fair state for movie shoot locations. In fact, one day recently Herb Chambers Lexus received a call from a “big time movie location scout” who was looking to shoot a movie scene in “the finest automobile showroom in the world”!

Guess what? They chose our spectacular new Herb Chambers Lexus showroom on the famous “Automile” in Sharon, MA! When this facility was finished I knew it was a bit “over the top” as they say…but nothing was too good for our loyal Lexus customers and guests-- the true fans of this magnificent luxury vehicle brand. To get back to my story, it turned out that they wanted to shoot a few scenes for the upcoming 2010 movie: The Zookeeper starring Kevin James (the star of King of Queens & Paul Blart: Mall Cop) in our new showroom! Well, what could I say but “yes, when would you like to start?”

No sooner did I give them the “green light” but it seems all of Hollywood arrived! Set guys, lighting guys, camera crews, loads of “assistants”, tractor trailer trucks, miles of cable, electricians, carpenters and more …it was truly transformational…

The Chevrolet Equinox is redesigned for 2010. That makes this the second generation of this crossover SUV. Though sized more like a midsize SUV, the Equinox has pricing and features of a compact SUV, though now with some luxury and technology amenities not expected in its price class.

The Chevy Equinox is sized like a midsize and priced like a compact...

Small families looking to downsize from a large, inefficient SUV will find the Equinox a good value...

Nine Ways to Prolong Your Battery Life
Courtesy AAA.com

Batteries have an average life of three to five years. Simple care and maintenance can keep your battery performing reliably throughout its life.

1. Keep your battery case and brackets free of corrosion. If you see cracks/oozing on top of the case, replace the battery.

2. Corrosion and deposits interfere with the flow of electric current. Have your battery terminals and posts cleaned regularly by a trained technician.

3. Inspect brackets. If they are heavily corroded, replace them or have them replaced. Also make sure they secure the battery firmly. Loose brackets will allow the battery to vibrate, shortening its life and possibly damaging other components.

2010 Cadillac SRX
All-new crossover has new roots.

The 2010 Cadillac SRX is all-new for the 2010 model year.

There's nothing left of the original SRX but the name. Whereas the original SRX used a rear-wheel-drive platform with a longitudinal engine and a choice of V6 or V8, the new version is built on a front-wheel-drive platform with a transverse-mounted V6 engine.

Now that GM officially has a future as a viable car company, we think the SRX is worth a long look from those who are looking to downsize and economize.

Amelia

A good biopic can help moviegoers know what it is like to be someone extraordinary, invite them into the private life of an important public figure, or at bare minimum, take an interesting perspective on a well-known life. Amelia does none of those things, instead opting to be an over-simplified version of Amelia Earhart's complicated life, suffocated by glossy cinematography , a lush score and boasting a cast full of actors who seem to believe that playing people who lived in the past, even just 80 years ago, requires affectations that make them all sound like newsreel announcers.

2010 BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo

As BMW explains it, the original Gran Turismos of the 1950s and '60s were stylish and luxurious two-seat performance cars with roomy trunks that could handle two people and their luggage for a weekend away. For 2010, BMW is revising that idea with the 5 Series Gran Turismo, a sporty sedan/hatchback that can handle five people and their luggage.
